74 Years of Post Independent Suffering of Tamils

in Tamil Eelam hustles towards Bankruptcy & Hardship Environment

Readers are requested to refer to the book titled Sri Lanka: National Conflict and the Tamil Liberation Struggle by Satchi Ponnambalam published, by Tamil Information Centre, and Ancient Ceylon by Parker.

Ceylon (then) received its independence on the 4^th of February 1948. Before the independence, Tamil leaders then made several miscalculations and errors in the political future of the Tamils environment for the future. In 1929, SWRD Bandaranaike demanded a federal form of governance, which the Tamils opposed. In 1833, the three kingdoms were merged as one by the British. Tamils did not oppose it. Before granting independence, Tamils did not foresee their future and demanded separation or a federal form of governance from the British. Tamils were represented in the legislative council. The focus here is that Tamil politicians then did not have the perception to demand separation or a federal form of government, like that of Jinnah of Pakistan.

First Painful Stabbing:

The three separate kingdoms (Jaffna, Kandy, and Ruhunu) were merged composing the Tamils as the minority of a new dominion in 1833.

Second Painful Stabbing

The Sinhalese on receiving independence in 1948, focussed attention on reducing the number of the Tamils and hence seats in parliament. Almost one million estate workers were domiciled in the upcountry and the Sinhalese were threatened under a democratic form of government. The government passed an act of parliament to disfranchise the one million Tamils in the upcountry.

GOSL was quick enough to utilise the services of Tamil and Burger engineers for the structural transformation by the Galoya Development Board, and River Valley Development Board on the Irrigation Projects. No development in the North.

Third Painful Stabbing:

SWRD was forced into politics. He formed the Sinhala Maha Saba in 1936 directed on Sinhalese nationalist lines. He formed the SLFP in 1951 and was elected as Prime Minister in 1956. He established a diplomatic mission with several Communist states drawing the lines of Sinhala nationalism and socialism. He introduced the Sinhala only Act No. 33 of 1956 with the exclusion of Tamil and English.

The downfall for Ceylon was SWRD Bandaranaike drawing the lines of Communism/Socialism and having a relationship with communist states. During his (SWRDB) tenure of office, serious-minded racial violence broke out from the 22^nd of May 1958 to the 29^th of May 1958, hundreds and hundreds of Tamils were killed, and their properties were looted and destroyed with girls raped. Tamil economy was a threat. Banda introduced the Sinhala only act. His vision was fundamentalism with Sinhala as the main language.

He was murdered by a Buddhist monk named Soma Rama Thero on the 25^th of September 1959. All the sins committed by the PM SWRDB were cursed and punished by his Buddhist monk.

Tamils are generally Capitalistic minded wherever they live.

Fourth Painful Stabbing:

On Banda’s death, his wife Srimavo took over from the caretaker PM, W. Dahanayake (underwear PM). “Birds of the same feather flock together”. Here, the writer can point out that this woman Srimavo is a worse fundamentalist than her husband. She continued with the Sinhala Buddhist vision of converting Ceylon into a Sinhala Buddhist country. The writer wants to emphasize that the government leadership forget to strengthen the country's economy but reinforces fundamentalism. She continued with her Socialist/Communist ideas and approached China to build a multimillion-dollar Conference Hall and named it BMICH. (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall). This pushed Sri Lanka to fall into China’s Trap. The Minister started to intervene in Contracts by Cement Corporation. During maintenance of the KILN, the kiln bricks have to be replaced. Several thousands of bricks are used. The government ordered to purchase the of bricks from China instead of Japan which are of good quality. This is how the economic mismanagement (with kickbacks) of the economy started. Srimavo now wanted to get the support of the majority mass by pushing dumb Sinhala students into universities. She got a Muslim minister and brought in Standardisation where a Sinhala student with a 45 score can enter the University, while a Tamil has to score 99 marks. This propelled Tamils to leave the country to study abroad. The country is now full of low-level Sinhala doctors, engineers, and economists. The so-called qualified, Sinhalese had no vision with no mission to act. The economy had fallen to such an extent, that poverty crept in and people had no rice, sugar, or bread and had to eat cassava and sambal. Austerity measures were placed by the government and people were suffering. No forex was allowed for imports. Industries suffered from spares and capital equipment. The writer was at KKS during this period. I had to plant cassava in my yard for our consumption and wait in the queue for a loaf of bread. Friendship with China was because of Buddhism. The Language of Buddhism in Sri Lanka is Pali, not Sinhalese.

The painful stabbing was the standardisation and austerity measures and could be directed to the construction of the BMICH hall and her racial policies. Intake of Tamils to the public service was tightened and reduced.

The goal of the government should have been to increase the level of knowledge by building good schools in the South. Instead, most laboratory equipment in the North was shifted to Southern schools. The quality of education was diluted island-wide.

Tamil public servants were ordered to qualify in the Sinhala language up to the 8^th standard irrespective of their occupation, and refusal to do so will enter in dismissal. These policies affected the economy of the country from different angles. She would not understand Leonardo da Vincis’ theories as an illiterate.

Behind the run, the Sinhalese core indirectly commenced attracting Tamils for assimilation, conversion and becoming Sinhalese. The majority of Sinhalese who says they are, are not Sinhalese.

Therefore, it can be strongly directed to point out that Srimavo’s stab wounds were deeper. Further, terrorism started with JVP taking up arms in 1971. Srimavo ordered the killing of thousands of university students. As far as Tamils are concerned the stab wounds were deep and multidirectional.

Srimavo received her curse for all the wrongdoings by the government stripping her civic rights during the Jayawardena government. GDP was low and the economic status was poor. People suffered during the austerity measures.

Fifth Painful Stabbing:

It is not to be forgotten that in 1977, during JR Jayawardhane’s period the Sinhalese mob attacked Tamils in the South. The killing and raping of Tamils were unaccountable. Again, the Tamils in the South were displaced and they ran to the North. The socialist and the leftist parties (SLFP) were responsible for the riots. Every time a riot initiates or fires out the Tamils run to the North. What does this mean? Tamils’ residence is the North.

Sixth Painful Stabbing:

In June 1983, the LTTE killed 13 army soldiers as they could not tolerate the army’s terrorised treatment of Tamil civilians in the North. This shows the credibility of the LTTE. The repercussions of this incident were: The Sinhalese mob in the South commenced the famous 1983 riots killing, raping and destroying properties belonging to the Tamils in the South. Again, the displacement of Tamils to the North commenced. The 1983 riots were told to be the worst where the Sinhala hooligans and the army in civil clothes murdered Tamils.

Tamils living in the South became at risk as the Sinhala mental fundamentalists were converting themselves to animals in the jungle. The Sinhalese hated the Tamils to the extent of killing, raping etc. The Sinhala political hooligans like Mahinda pretend and portray acts that they are kind and love the Tamils.

How long could this killing go on?

Seventh Painful Stabbing:

Chandrika’s period was again a period of destruction. Only public properties were destroyed by both the LTTE and the army. No economic growth. Only racial tensions. During her period, she took revenge by destroying Tamil properties in the North.

Eighth Painful Stabbing: (Rajapaksa & Sirisena Clan)

The severe painful period was the period when Mahinda Rajapaksa (MR) assumed power as the President. MR does not know social inclusion, democracy, justice, Rule of Law, the three arms of governance etc. He also does not understand Inflation, GDP, economic growth, depreciation, Resource management, Resource Co-ordination, Planning, coordination, budgeting, CBA (DCF) Discounted Cash Flow, and import and export correlation. His knowledge is to borrow and satisfy the people and never thought of how he is planning to pay back.  The major flaw was the planning of the Hambantota port and airport. He never understood why he needed a harbour and an airport in that corner. Maybe he has weak neural activities. The MR clan had made several blunders. Funds were handed over during the Tsunami’s destruction. The funds were never distributed to help the people and the country. Where did the money go? He spent the money borrowed on loans from China for the roads, industries, etc. Projects were completed at expensive costs so that the Rajapaksa clan can get cuts. Details cannot be discussed here as they are large.

Politics should never be mixed with Religion. Then it converts into Fundamentalism. The Buddhist clergy have a vision of converting SL into a Buddhist Sinhalese country. The Buddhist clergy have quite a low intellectual capacity.

At the same time, the writer wishes to condemn LTTE and the other terrorist group for destroying public property as they were completed on forex. Railway stations were constructed with houses for the refugees.

The major blow to the country was the Bond mismanagement during the Sirisena government. A small country like Sri Lanka cannot risk Bond management. The reason is we do not have major exports and wealth, and Sri Lankan laziness and knowledge in financial management are inadequate to operate Bond management by the CB. Financial or any experts come into the play to scoop wealth only. The government should plan how they will pay back on maturity. Bond management shall not be on a collateral basis. The knowledge Sri Lanka has is Collateral operation only. The capability of the GOSL and the CB cannot pay back the bonds in full on maturity. It is a pity that Ravi Karunanayake being a qualified Management Accountant did not know the drama of the Arjuna Mahendran Bond scam.

The shortfall in the perception of the Rajapaksa and Sirisena clans is to scoop money in various ways with no thought of how they would pay it back. The wealth is owned by the people of the country. Several Bonds are sold every year. Please refer to the following information:

Today the Central Bank suffers from foreign exchange. The country is bankrupt. Need not explain and detail here what we are short of. Sri Lanka is short of everything including perception and intelligence.

Power is always held by the majority of Sinhalese. They recruit small Tamils to serve in certain key positions, with the intent of defrauding the country financially or racially. The root cause of the Sri Lankan bankruptcy is because of the Sinhala power.

Such defrauding was not in practice, maybe in the 50s but when socialism and communism creeps in then politicians step foot to defraud.

99% of Tamils are Capitalistic minded. Tamils are careful of their finances. No Tamil family has declared bankruptcy unless driven by the Sinhalese politicians for their benefit.

Therefore, there is no reason why the Tamils should sacrifice their life and living at the expense of their comfort to the Sinhalese. The Rajapaksa Clan should resign en-block and leave the country. MR has adequate funds invested in Uganda and other countries. Namal is the same. It is a shame that the Prime Minister and the former President MR, investing forex in Uganda rather than in his own country for the betterment of his people. MR is a traitor. Well, the whole Rajapaksa clan are traitors.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is a champion of bribery and corruption. He established a gang of Rajapaksa to govern and appointed a man from his village, Cabraal as the Governor of the Central Bank. The media states that between 2006 and 2015 an American citizen took approximately 6.5 million US$ from Sri Lanka. Who is this US citizen? Is this the way the Mahinda Rajapaksa clan transferred money from SL for their investments? Namal has implicated Mahela and Kumar Sangakkara as his Benami for his investments overseas. How can a young person earn such a lot of money within a few periods of coming into politics?

The country (SL) has no box of matches and soap. People have to go back to the stone age when they need granite stones to make fire. Coconut fibre to scrub their bodies like the ancient humans. As of today the 20^th of April 2022, the inflation stands at 74% which is a shame.

Conclusion:

Tamils cannot continue to suffer from the atrocities committed and their incompetency by the majority of Sinhalese any more than 74 years. Tamils shall have their government for the N&E to live freely and happily in Tamil Eelam. Tamils have the expertise and capability to manage their financial, industrial management, development, income and expenditure and earn their forex. Maybe the Sinhala government will come to beg for a loan(s) from the Tamil government in the future. Of course, SL got loans from Bangladesh. Does MR have a relationship with Uganda?? The west could assess the capability of the Tamils living in their country and whether they can manage and run their country.

Question: Has Sri Lanka employed, an Attorney General, Auditor General, and Commissioner of Taxation? Why has the Tax Commissioner not investigated the assets of politicians and black money?

How was the MR clan able to invest in Uganda? The Chiefs of public Service have no idea of what their functions are, but to work as slaves to the politicians. The public pays their salary, not politicians.

The appreciation of the theoretical and practical training and experience thereafter makes one an expert.

The west could assess the capability of the Tamils living in their country and whether the Tamils could govern a country on their own. It is not possible for the Tamils in SL to live in cohesion with the Sinhala fools who cannot balance their books, anymore. Tamils need to secede and govern themselves to prosper.

Not one Sinhala diaspora understands that they have failed and blame the Tamils which is nothing but proving that they are imbeciles. The ministry of SL foreign affairs should employ clever intelligent people like Harsha de Silva. Tamils need not suffer anymore. Better GOSL divide the country via an irrevocable amendment and free the N&E to govern themselves. We can govern ourselves. It is a polite appeal to the Tamil intellectuals not to advise the Sinhala mob as to how to alleviate this current economic disaster. They will only use the Tamils. Even now they cry that Tamil Diaspora should send forex.

Well, the day is not too far for the Tamils to get their Tamil Eelam.
